Rendezvous (1976)

Post by The Reverend Bluejeans »

To all you who haven't seen this - and those who have - enjoy.

Some mad French bastard did this; the camera car is a Mercedes Benz 450SEL 6.9, the sound is a 275GTB Ferrari.

Lots of interesting cars including two BLMC 1100/1300's and at least one sighting of Junkman's white 16.

It's best with headphones.

Going by some French drivers I have known it could have been done in a Renault 6....

Cracking bit of film though and it never fails to impress youngsters (by which I mean anybody under 40).

There are lots of "explanations" on t'internet but its one of those things that just needs to be enjoyed for its own sake.
There's a great long bar in Rock & Roll heaven.......

All those white Pugs and Renaults with yellow lights, when I first visited Paris in 1984 , I was so dissapointed that it wasn't like this.
Saying that it must have been full of 505s and R18s with GSAs on every corner, I'm sure if I saw Rendesvous 1986 I'd be just as excited at what was just mobile street furniture to me then.

What a fantastic film. I first went to France as a small child about this time and IIRC provincial France was still full of yellow headlamps well into the early/mid 'eighties.

As I biker I really appreciate the sheer guts it took to film this.

A GSXR1100 on 80s tyres full chat around the Paris ring road. The 1100 Gixxer was a direct competitor to my CBR1000F and there's no fucking way I'd try this.

Aye, I've ridden the Paris ringroad at 2am & even then it was too busy for that sort of thing!
