No idea if it is original Renault or aftermarket as it came with the car but it is going on. Hopefully it will be painless. It has clearly been on a car but is unbutchered

Nice work. That exhaust looks very different to the one on Junkman's.

It's probably very different to the one on mine... But slightly different is the usual scenario. Just similar enough to make me think they are identical and make it really awkward for a while until I realise they are different.

The silencers on JM's look like medieval wind instruments or space debris found on the Clangers' planet. I've never seen such a bizarre setup.

That's because mine is a '67, the year before the ones you can get parts for.
Your's is a '68-'80, so no problem.

No idea how interested people are in seeing crusty bits of a 1960s Renault but I jacked it up last night and moved the blocks it was resting on. You can now see the rest of the previous 'repair' to the chassis rail

Looks like it was done by the same bozo that welded plates on top of plates on my T2. As it was all covered by thick underseal I didn't find out until I had the underside blasted.
I think it's now a couple of hundred pounds lighter as it now has factory spec thickness floors, sills etc..

I didn't like the factory spec thickness of the Renault chassis so I decided to go thicker. The only thick steel I could find in my garage was even thicker than I wanted but that's not a problem. Look at the difference:

Chassis is now done on the drivers side front. I just have to make the big section that goes across the car under the sump. Again it made of thin steel. Mine has got rot in places and it's also mangled as it looks like it has been used as a jacking point so I've now cut the complete base off and I shall fix that this evening. Luckily the weather is bad so hopefully the neighbours will have their windows shut!

Last night's work:

it looks a bit of a bodge but it's strong. Ideally I would strip the suspension and make the repair invisible but I don't have the time for that, I just want the car driveable!

Oh and I finally painted the drivers side wing

So, drivers side chassis and crossmember now done. Next job is to fix the passenger side chassis that didn't need welding...
