I can't find any information in the Haynes book ,or Autodata about how often the cambelt needs to be changed on my 1.1L fiesta 1982 . I've had it eight years now , so i guess it needs doing :?

It's a chain, rather like an outside toilet.

Yeap no belt on these but they used to wear out timing chains on a regular basis. We used to get no end of them in with oil leaks where the chain had been left too long and had worn through the cover.

As above - the tensioner is a simple blade type - if left too long it will rub through the case.

And they don't half make a racket...:-)
