Re: Unparallel Renault 16 Happenings
The Nitrogen in the spheres leaks away over time and results n an appalling ride. They can be removed and rebuilt though. Hydrolastic was just green fluid. Certainly more reliable than Hydropneumatic.

These are well worth a look. But it has to be one with the Vanguard engine for reliability and 78+ b.h.p.

Re: Unparallel Renault 16 Happenings
I am aware there are reports of this but in 3 Hydragas cars I have never had such a problem yet.The Reverend Bluejeans wrote: ↑Fri Oct 25, 2019 6:20 pm The Nitrogen in the spheres leaks away over time and results n an appalling ride. Is that a Mk2 Cavalier ragtop behind it?

I think so. But I can trump even that with a Viceroy convertible.

Re: Unparallel Renault 16 Happenings
Junkfather bought a 20 TS when R16s became unavailabilium despite my dearest efforts to talk him into a Caprice, which were dirt cheap due to the Dollar tanking thanks to Peanut Jimmy. The entire Junkclan was never as disappointed by a motor, despite briefly enduring a DS. This is so engrained in my memory that R20s of any flavour are out of question, despite it was the first car I actually drove. Well, it is statute-barred by now I guess and the Junkparents didn't notice when they returned from their holidays. The Reverend Bluejeans wrote: ↑Fri Oct 25, 2019 5:12 pm I'm reading my newly purchased September 1978 'What Car', and the Renault 20TS long term test therein.
It seems that if you want old (30+) reliable, good to drive, easyish to fix and genuine comfort, you must again look to Regie.
The 14 was indeed a Peugeot powered bastard but I'd cross the road to look at one.
I'm looking at la Regie. But every time I do it with my eyes closed, something rear engined appears on the inside of my eyelids. And during the rare moments I come to my senses, it says "Rambler" next to the Renault badge.
I blatantly refuse to look at 14s because I hate the feeling of puking.

They just do look better painted in dark colours.

Re: Unparallel Renault 16 Happenings
I'm not among the ones not looking at them. Sadly they are prime fodder for those rich geezers holding cars at ransom in ramshackle structures to accelerate their deterioration process while complaining about young lads not being interested in old cars.fried onions wrote: ↑Fri Oct 25, 2019 6:22 pm These are well worth a look.
