Could it have some how filled the bores with oil or have got contaminated fuel, I doubt it would go from being fine to being smokey in that short a period of time any other way, sticky rings might do that i guess?

Re: Clints cars
The blue smoking is probably carb related if it has flooded and washed the bores. My poxy Thunderturd does it every now and again when the floats stick. Also had it on a Lotus that was bad enough to fail an mot. Rebuilt the carbs and changed the oil and all was well again

Thanks, sounds like that's all it is. It needs a proper tune up, it's spitting back through the carb. When the body is done I'll go through it and take it to the garage above to finish it properly!

Re: Clints cars
Triumph failed MoT but not too badly. Bit of rot at the rear of the inner sill
This is end of the arm and this is the remains of the bush So it looks like I'm going to have to go down to the motor factors tomorrow and see what I can bodge into it instead. Oh and remember, I need this car back for retest in Friday...
But to get to it and do a proper job I had to remove the front end of the trailing arm. This put up a bit of a fight and now I need a new bush and bolt as we had to destroy the old one. But nobody appears to sell them...This is end of the arm and this is the remains of the bush So it looks like I'm going to have to go down to the motor factors tomorrow and see what I can bodge into it instead. Werent they badged as Hondas at one point? It sounds stupid but if they were try ringing a dealer with the Honda part no and asking if the system is still showing stock.

Tried that! The Acclaim is a Honda Ballade apart from the Ford Cortina front seats. Honda still stock some parts but not those bushes.DodgeRover wrote: ↑Wed Jul 03, 2019 10:40 am Werent they badged as Hondas at one point? Anyway, I went to my local friendly motor factors and had a rummage in their store room. I bought these. They are for a Peugeot They fit but but not quite tight enough so I bought the diet coke purely to cut up to wrap around the bush.
I cleaned up the tatty trailing arm with the wire wheel on the grinder and painted it in black Jotun. It looks good with the new bushes The car is now welded. Obviously the captive nut came loose so I had to hack the car about some more and weld another on, but it looks ok now.
