Had a look at the washer bottle when I was fucking about the other day. The main leak is now from the top pump which is for the headlight washers, now that I’ve sorted the leak at the front of the car which was the connection in the bumper to said washers. Set about this with a load of all purpose cleaner and much scrubbing today. It shows quite a few of its 201k miles inside! It has a bit of a smoke to itself if you let it idle from cold. Doesn’t do it straight away.

I’d be surprised if it wasn’t part of the ECU. Might be worth having a look down by the pedals to see if there’s an additional control box plugged in between the throttle and the factory loom though.

Valet the A4 and drive it until it blows up. Put the £800 into savings for bodywork on the Civic. Even if you do get the cambelt etc done, Mrs SiC will murder you if she is driving yet another old VAG shitter that blows up on her when she could be driving a nice reliable new car.
