Re: What did you do today?
Xtriple said: "then tried to wriggle the battery out. It is a tight fit in its little cubby, but, I really couldn't get the sod out! I am just too weak! " 'tis a bastard as you get old. I had this trying to get a wheel back onto SWMBO C3, could not get the wheel to sit on the very narrow r...

Re: Crash! Bang! Wallop! - 2022 Edition
Good to see that Police in one area have dealt with a rave with vigour, wish Devon and Cornwall did the same. Scanning down the list it I found a near neighbour, surprised not to see cannabis on his list as you could have tested positive by breathing the air outside his house for 15 minutes. He has ...

Re: DVLA query -engine number on VIN plate?
DVLA have kindly issued me with a new (free) V5C with the correct VIN, not sure about the engine number though so that might require another fresh V5C. I'll be off to the local BMW main agent to order some new O rings and piping to replace iffy items I disturbed whan taking aoff the plenum to check ...

Re: DVLA query -engine number on VIN plate?
I think my wife must be right; I'm showing signs of some form of dementia one of which is becoming increasingly incompetent in thought and deed. Possibly stupid me - there is a number on the VIN plate, one letter 4 numbers - is this the engine number? At least removing the plenum to investigate abov...

Re: DVLA query - am I about to be fucked?
thanks to all for their comments - makes me feel a bit less paranoid. Thanks to RBJ pointing me in the direction of the engine number; I thought I had seen it years ago but seeing anything near the starter is basically impossible so it looks like I'll be taking the plenum off; should be ok as I had ...

DVLA query -engine number on VIN plate?
I have a query from the DVLA that the vin on the Mot and V5C don't match and they want front and rear number plates confirmed, engine number, vin from Mot, vin plate and V5C (which I am searching for as I haven't needed it for about 20 years). So why has this come up after about 20 years of Mots? Pr...

Re: 1985 BMW E28 520i
I've just been allowed back in after TDW lost my saved sign in many moons ago. I've been following this thread with interest being an e28 owner. My go-to for e28 matters has been mye28, not that I have done anything to my car apart from keeping it in the garage and driving it to MoTs -(wife says why...

Re: Headlight on Classics - MOT changes
My BMW has a March 1986 build date and I assume was sold in Spain as that is where I bought it from; so does the build date count so I can install inappropriate modern lighting or would it be the registration date in Spain which I suspect may be difficult to ascertain?
