Re: Sics Consolidated Faded Moderns Thread - 2003 E320 & 2006 Golf Mk5 GTI

Re: Sics Consolidated Faded Moderns Thread - 2003 E320 & 2006 Golf Mk5 GTI

I put my order in at lunch time. - NAPA rear springs as I decided the spec was identical to the KYB while also looking identical and decided that as NAPA don't make springs, they could be the same. - NAPA rear control arms - Febi front tie-rod sets And that's it. Almost went for the front wishbones ...

Re: Sics Consolidated Faded Moderns Thread - 2003 E320 & 2006 Golf Mk5 GTI

I was looking at maybe if I did spend more to get a "nicer" one. I'd be looking at £3k to £4k for something with lower miles. But that's a lot of money for a 18yr old Golf though. Many of them still have the same issues like drooping headlining and I bet I'd end up spending similar replaci...

The rear suspension (steel) bolt I think is going to be seized solid in the aluminium bush sleeve. So almost certainly have to cut the whole thing out.

Re: Sics Consolidated Faded Moderns Thread - 2003 E320 & 2006 Golf Mk5 GTI

The rear toe misalignment probably could cause the wheel to still be out too? Ideal world would be to just loosen that bolt up with heat. However I suspect that'll knacker the bush. While the bush on its own is cheap, there is a good chance the bolt might snap in it too. Kind of a cascading job wher...

This isn't a Robin Reliant.

Wheel is about 10-15 degrees to the left when driving straight on. I can't stand driving cars that are out of alignment, especially ones that are designed for driving fun.

Re: Sics Consolidated Faded Moderns Thread - 2003 E320 & 2006 Golf Mk5 GTI

Went for an alignment check at lunchtime. https://autoshite.com/uploads/monthly_2024_03/PXL_20240326_130647658.jpg.634e27232f60e7e1f9213d43433bc5a4.jpg Way out.  However it wasn't adjusted as they reckoned the tie rods are seized solid and likewise the rear arm bolts are too. TBF the rear arm bolts ...

Re: What did you do today?

This is her second most popular review. While not so much car related, it could be said that it would be good car work wear given the easy clean nature of the materials.

(Let's face it, you will probably be skipping to the 1m20s point)
