Funny that, when I was doing that 125 I needed to drain the tank. I know I've got four petrol cans somewhere, couldn't find any of them.

I'd suspect if it's 4x4 as well, it's probably been nailed over the floorpan of a proper car which could help a lot. I remember a 4x4 Cossie Escort van I saw once. It was a Sierra floor, cut in four & then cut down to the right size & glued back together with a sparkly stick. Then they naile...

Deffo time to check the valve block etc in the auto box then. That's right in the failure range. From what I've read the valve block is easy enough to do, especially for a man of your skills.

They're all 4.0l over there aren't they?
