Re: 1966 Volvo 121

I'm not driving it with a dangerous fault. Someone will eventually rear-end me.

'Just heel and toe it' is not an acceptable solution.

It's been tried with three different coils and two different standard Bosch 026 dizzies.

It's not the coil/dizzy.

Re: 1966 Volvo 121

Is it at all weather dependant? Better on cold damp days or just the same? What's the idle speed? Is that ignition system programmable like the one SiC has or running the standard advance/ retard curve? Have you tried blanking the vacuum advance as a test? Doesn't matter about the weather. 850rpm. ...

Under bonnet with air cleaner in situ.
There's nowhere else for it to go. It draws from under the car.

Ellemann-Jakobsen rocker cover was a silly thing I bought years ago.

Hooli wrote: Tue Jul 27, 2021 12:27 pm Has it got an anti-run on valve?

I recall a car which had odd cutting out problems I eventually cured by changing the hose to the anti-run on valve, seemed under certain loads as the engine moved it opened the split in the pipe & gave it a very weak mixture.
90% certain it doesn't have one.

Re: 1966 Volvo 121

The carburation issue is a fair one, as is a shagged ignition switch. It could be one of several problems.

I know the breather is full of shit and that a baffle has broken in the Simonz back box, but no one thinks that's enough to cause it to cut out.

Re: EBay Finds

The engine would be worth a few quid to the Land Rover boys but not £1800.

Re: 1966 Volvo 121

Bob weights in the distributor? Vacuum advance faulty? Shit condensor? Leaky brake servo? Anyway, I love the way you've Photoshopped a sunroof on in that pic. After all, EVERYONE knows that Volvo never fitted a steel sliding roof to the Amazon! I made the sunroof out of the riot shield they took **...
