Re: Reliable Mazda Engine: a spectral fleet thread

Next question ... how many times have you made the lights go up? When we had our MX5 I think I must have done that for a few minutes not long after buying it. Lights go up .... Lights go down ... Lights go up ... Lights go down Speaking of which, I bought it back in 2007/2008 when I was on a placeme...

Re: Reliable Mazda Engine: a spectral fleet thread

The drive is wonderful. With 1st and 2nd gear lock, and switchable o/d on the (Jatco) box, it's a good auto. The propulsion has a crisp, smooth feel I've felt in very few autos. Which is why they used it in the black cab. Do you have a manual driving licence? If so, you ought to try a manual MX5 so...

Re: Reliable Mazda Engine: a spectral fleet thread

Incidentally, don't bin the grille in the front mouth just yet. They weren't stock out of the factory, but they are a useful addition to stop stones, branches, animals, etc from punching a hole in your radiator/condenser or leaves collecting and rusting it out. Being low to the ground they do have a...

Re: Reliable Mazda Engine: a spectral fleet thread

Mazda is much more fun to drive too, firmer, more planted, easier to chuck about, more comfortable, better build quality etc. <Snip> Runs faultlessly, and is probably the best four-cylinder engine and gearbox combo I've driven, it's really smooth and punchy. Even my best running D-Series doesn't co...

Re: What did you do today?

That's just silly and it probably only got type approval because the markings are in fives. Else each would be something stupid like 3.75 mph per graduation. Regulations say: 5.2.2. In the case of vehicles of categories M, N, and L3, L4 and L5 manufactured for sale in any country where imperial uni...

Re: What did you do today?

Here you go. Can't find a 986 (the Boxster model number) brochure but here is a 996 one (the 911 with the funny lights). This is their reasoning on the position of the instruments. The key slot is on the other side for RHD cars. Screenshot_20190629-000322_Adobe Acrobat.jpg Screenshot_20190629-000404...

Re: What did you do today?

The instrument panel on the Porsche is remarkably badly laid out and hard to read. It's the analogue speedometer that gets me. Literally useless for trying to keep to speed limits. I believe the markings are a Porsche thing. Most certainly why they put a digital Speedo readout in the middle digital...

Re: That awful colour MGB GT

Bit of a catch-up on stuff done. New second hand distributor arrived. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190628/a1fd65d7cd7faf6175f8d010c42ab576.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190628/c7de61c4095c10c6d1fe822a879db2eb.jpg Inside doesn't look too bad. No real play I could feel in it at all. htt...

Re: What did you do today?

Swapped the Boxster with the MGB this week and being using it for work the last 2 days. Thankfully in the shopping centre multistorey car park that I use, both days I've managed to find single spaces next to pillars where no one else can park next to. I hate parking nice cars in the centre as they j...
