Re: That awful colour MGB GT

Took it for another quick spin. If I release the handbrake, leave in gear and hit the handbrake lever back with a hammer then it does seem to release properly. Admittedly it wasn't a long drive (2 to 3 miles ish) but the rears were 23c and 27c respectively. I'll see what they are like after a longer...

Which reminds me, I need to fit the new sealing washers on the wiper shafts to stop the footwells from filling with water. Still not managed to find where or how water is getting into the boot either.

Re: Eddie Honda's wheels of steel (and occasionally alloy)

That's similar to what I was getting when driving back from Scotchland to Brizzle. Mostly doing 50-70mph (loads of roadworks). Trying my best to keep it at lockup speed.

Yeah you need to drive it harder!

Re: That awful colour MGB GT

Doesn't it look tiny in the petrol station next to that [small car . I'd be tempted to guess rear main oil seal for the leak underneath, they all do it sir. I think the early ones of these (no idea on years sorry) still had a rope seal too. I reckon that too. I think this year will be a rubber seal.

Interesting you say that. What are that tail tale signs that you see which makes you think that? IR thermometer has been saying the drum itself has gotten to 100c, which to me seems way too hot.

Re: That awful colour MGB GT

So far the mileage since coming out the garage has rolled over 70 miles. ........................................................... fucking hell! What is all the better is that I'm really starting to enjoy driving the car and want to go out in it. Especially as I am being to learn what is normal a...

Re: That awful colour MGB GT

Keep forgetting to go look for some of that! When restarting after filling up, I did get a little backfire. Startled a middle aged woman quite a bit! Warm starts do need a bit of throttle to get it going and it runs a bit grumpy for a little while. I guess that's the temperature compensators in thes...

"All new high tech machines like these robots" ... Which are Kuka, German made machinery. Interesting to note the heavy investment German industry has made into quality machine tools over the years. Much more than the UK.

Re: That awful colour MGB GT

Oh I forgot to mention that I'm still getting dripage out of the gearbox/flywheel area. Oil looks dirty though, so maybe it's just oil sitting in the bottom from where its leaked while sat stationary. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190518/51c16ebe069709491ad1b25dde0b07ca.jpg Also took my elderly...

Re: That awful colour MGB GT

Not sure if today was a success or not really. Apart from being another complete time thief. Also got a cold and feeling a bit crappy, so wasn't going that quick. Couldn't do the clutch master as I didn't have the copper washers, and I didn't want to risk it leaking then having to do it again. Why I...
