Re: DozeyDustman's Fleet update.

On Saturday I had a go at the rear brakes. O/S looked fine, just worn pads. IMG_3422.jpeg N/S had other ideas. IMG_3423.jpeg Pistos weren’t stuck on the back, but there was significant excessive drag on the handbrake when disengaged, to the point the hubs were stiff. These use the inner hub of the d...

Re: DozeyDustman's Fleet update.

About a week after my last fleet update we completed on a house purchase, so things got put aside. A couple of weeks back I made a start on the advisories on the Kia. Front droplinks and ball joints had perished rubbers, which I had purchased ages ago when I guided stepdaughter through the oil &...

Re: DozeyDustman's Fleet update.

I wanted to give the Saab a service at the weekend but some muppet has done the sump plug up so tight not even a breaker bar can get it undone without rounding off the corners, so I’ll have to wait for an extraction pump before I can do that. At least I changed the air filter which while not horrifi...

Re: DozeyDustman's Fleet update.

Update. For some reason I've not been able to log in on here for nearly 3 months - I type my post and get logged out straight away. Kia's steering pipe was at fault. Rusted completely through. 854041D8-2E91-4ED9-B6CB-818282A8B1AF.jpeg.53c1c8b085ea55984d2dadaaaa704e5e.jpeg New one was well over £200 ...

Re: DozeyDustman's Fleet update.

The mini has now gone. Stepdaughter bow has a Kia Rio, which after 2 weeks shat it’s power steering high pressure hose. Repair section being made by Pirtek in Pompey, which I’m sure will be just as fun to fit as it was to remove. Also have another Citroen C2, picked it up locally for £800. Needs the...

Pissing brake fluid everywhere.

Re: DozeyDustman's Fleet update.

The Mini is back on the road now a replacement ABS block is installed. What a twat of a job that was. Stepdaughter’s boyfriend came and loaned me a hand as his paws a slightly smaller than mine and could get the in places I can’t. Re: DozeyDustman's Fleet update.

One for RBJ. But afaik my local garage never needed to signal to self bleed when I had a second hand ABS module put on my Laguna. Most independent garages now should have generic diagnostics tools (snapon/etc) to trigger the bleed process. Shouldn't need BMW tools. That is indeed what I'm hoping, r...

SiC wrote: Mon Dec 19, 2022 8:45 am Can't you match up the spec and part numbers?
Identical part number taken from an identical age and model R50 diesel, but according to the wise they need at least connecting to a diagnostics to bleed out the air.
