Re: Scruffy's Scrappers

My money would be on the 309 too. The couple of old Fords I had were strong engine and gearbox/drivetrain wise but typically for them dissolved at a rapid rate.

Re: Scruffy's Scrappers

Lovely. My sole 405 was a 1995 glxd turbo estate. I Was a sometime passenger in it for a few years before buying it. I was astonished by the ride quality and just how chuckable and responsive it was whilst holding onto my passenger seat whilst cornering. N170VRW. Brilliant thing. I totally agree. I...

Re: Scruffy's Scrappers

Bit like my SRi spec. Good for the time. I have got a sunroof but it’s seized shut. Still at least it doesn’t leak This one must have been garaged most of its life and thankfully the sunroof works perfectly, touch wood because Peugeot. During the winter months I always make sure I wind the all the ...

Re: Scruffy's Scrappers

I have never actually seen an srdt. I guess that will be a keeper then.? Definitely, just wish I had somewhere I could mothball it for pennies and use it on decent days only. I could really do with a 405 estate instead. AFAIK it's basically an SRi with a derv lump and drum brakes on the back instea...

Re: 405 fails MOT repairs in hand

 Those cars are lucky they landed with you, the vast majority of people would have had them shredded by now. I know you don't like diesels but the lack of cats is certainly an advantage in avoiding big bills.

Re: 405 fails MOT repairs in hand

Ouch! Poor maintenance by previous owners or just a bit of bad luck with a few things stacking up at once?

They get lots of love, if that's another term for costing a lot of money.
It's all relative I'm sure. Have you been charged £75 for plugging one in to a diagnostic machine to have a poxy light turned out yet?

MGB GT fettling

I thought it might be good to add a bit of content of my own to the forum so here's a brief summary of a few pieces of shite I've helped save over the last couple of years and my current daily jalopy. https://i.imgur.com/RGQMPhF.jpg https://i.imgur.com/OaAgDzC.jpg https://i.imgur.com/vBHUdMw.jpg htt...

Re: Hello

Still a few over there but it's definitely got a quieter feel to it lately! I was finding it lacking in lolz like I said at the meet so finally got round to signing up :-) A real pity as AS is a proper anomaly, most car forums have completely fallen flat on their arses now!
