Last time I checked SBC was fixed for free by M-B, as already mention by Rev Bluejeans. Have you contacted your local, friendly* dealer to see if there is goodwill available on this safety critical item?

16 miles, uphill, cross country. Diesels take an age to warm-up and anything with a DPF would choke-up. The return is downhill all the way.

I've just checked: it's a 270m climb. That makes it 2 degrees colder than where I live.

I could be interested. As much as I feel a 1.0 Micra will take me back to being 17, I think its work will be cut out on the new commute.
