Re: Dan's Crapi project.

Got the seat belts & stalks back in properly too. No idea wtf is going on with the belts tbh. The clip should be facing into the cabin not as it is here into the pillar, and the label on the bottom of the belt should be facing towards the pillar… I’m 99% sure the reels won’t fit on the wrong sid...

Re: Dan's Crapi project.

Been a while again! Very little done over winter. I don’t do cold and I don’t do wet either so everything pretty much stops until those things piss off! Then I had a load of stuff to do on the Volvo so I got almost all of that done as Spring started. Last few weeks though I’ve had this out of its hi...

Re: Are you still a car enthusiast?

I suppose I am still a car enthusiast, but only on my terms. I love classics, most stuff up to the end of the 80’s, some 90’s cars (but not many!) but after that I’m just not interested at all. They’re about as interesting to me as a refrigerator or something! Car shows? Nope, I can’t be fucking ars...

Re: Dan's Crapi project.

There’s loads of other bits & pieces I’ve done to the car in addition and it’s extremely close to being finished enough to go back on the road now. I’ve driven it in and out of the garage and up and down the driveway already, I need to turn the car around though now to do a few bits but as I pla...

Re: Dan's Crapi project.

Done loads of other stupid little jobs too. Stuff that isn’t really much on its own but needs doing non the less… Like spraying the insides of my brand new stainless wheel centre caps with clear wax. On these the clips that hold them to the wheel rust, then they snap and the stainless cap falls off!...

Re: Dan's Crapi project.

Also replaced the rusty manky bonnet release spring/pin with a new old stock one, then spent ages pissing around adjusting it and the two little bump stops at the front outer edges of the bonnet to get it closing properly and lining up but also so the release cable worked. 4FC6CDEF-43D3-4F00-8FF7-93...

Re: Dan's Crapi project.

I’d also bought a set of replacement bushes for the front anti roll bar. I’d noticed the old ones were very perished so opted to change them regardless. New ones are polyurethane road spec ones. Old ones were Ford branded and looked pretty shitty once removed. 6AB985CC-EED3-4B29-B927-0A93D9B3D529.jp...

Re: Dan's Crapi project.

Also spent some time to give all the interior trim, dash, glass etc etc a good clean and buff up since it was covered in several years worth of dust! 1DA5C77A-B1A8-4FDD-B94E-5AC36FE4BE77.jpeg A747AD56-BF42-4160-AAF5-8CAD36286E2F.jpeg 99BDCF20-488F-4BE4-8630-F99C29271AF7.jpeg 174A1658-7119-4BF4-B286-...

Re: Dan's Crapi project.

I had a result on eBay too. The plan was to use my original (mk1 & early mk2) steering wheel but at some point get the leather wrap thingy retrimmed. But, I spotted a much better condition steering wheel of the same basic style (again, mk1 & early mk2) on eBay so decided to go for it. Origin...

Re: Dan's Crapi project.

Pics above, but I’ve got the two door interior trims fitted. All the door hardware has been cleaned, lubricated and put back in. Doors pumped fat with wax, then the damp proof membrane glued in place with PU adhesive. Then the trims, handles etc etc went on. The weird clip in the top pic is the thin...
