Re: Reliable Honda Engine: a spectral fleet thread
I sanded back the wanky steering wheel, some plonker had indeed sprayed a wooden Momo, with zero prep. No cracks or anything in it. A coat of varnish and it's going on eBay for 60 quid. I only paid 20! The S90's V5 has arrived - they've changed them again. It's a bit condensed now to the point it's ...

Re: Reliable Honda Engine: a spectral fleet thread
Yep, needs must. 'still 1.0 on v5' as often seen on Corsas Polos etc for sale on Facebook is something we often take the piss out of. It's especially bad in this case as I'm dodging a tenner a month in RFL if I don't declare. Still, the engine seller replied straight away and is posting me a hand wr...

Re: Reliable Honda Engine: a spectral fleet thread
Having evaluated that the fan was dead, we cut it open, it turns out there's a dead capacitor in it, one of those rectangular ones. For the sake of a couple of quid we're going to try and resurrect it. I've also found that the washer fluid reservoir leaks. This is a PITA as the bottle has a sensor t...

Re: Reliable Honda Engine: a spectral fleet thread
More work today. Battery charged and the car now starts by itself. Gearbox definitely has issues engaging gears (especially reverse where the engine spins free and the car rolls forwards, before suddenly biting and jumping backwards) so an ATF change is on the cards. 12V straight to the fan did noth...

Re: Reliable Honda Engine: a spectral fleet thread
Had to stop a couple of times on the journey to let it cool off. I had to take a very roundabout way home to avoid potential ANPR nightmares on smart motorways, and to keep the car moving in clean air as much as possible (so lots of quiet or fast moving roads), as the only cooling the engine was get...
