Re: 1968 Austin 1100 Mk1 (Take 2)

use an old washing up bowl when removing the filter, far less messy! Unless of course the Mrs catches you with it full of old oil Not the first time that the bottom non return valve bit inside the oil filter has been lobbed with the old filter. Fucking hopeless really! brake pipes, make your own ;-)...

Re: 1968 Austin 1100 Mk1 (Take 2)

loving this thread, don't worry about CAT C marker, strictly speaking the seller should have declared it though Back on 3/1/2012 this car would have been worth less than a half decent suit, so a denting wing and an unsympathetic owner/insurer would have seen it written off. Looks like a winner for w...

Re: 1968 Austin 1100 Mk1 (Take 2) - Delivered but currently rough running :(

Got a home brewed job that I used on the purple one. Just waiting for some fibre washers to arrive so I can fix it. Still got some fluid left thankfully. Going to build up a list for a trip to Moss tomorrow. Need to think of what we need essentials at home first. Missus already has given me grief f...

Almost certainly got a spare set somewhere in this unsorted* garage... https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2020...

Re: 1968 Austin 1100 Mk1 (Take 2) - Delivered but currently rough running :(

do not head down the spin on filter adapters route! nasty stories about the inner o-ring not sealing and allowing oil to bypass the filter. gah, cheap chinese made shit! Then (I did this) when you first replace the filter the adaptor comes loose but you didn't realise until you dump all your new oil...

Re: Land Rover Rustorashun

That's an impressive amount of sand to get inside it, I get the feeling it wasn't at idle when it swallowed the water. I reckon it was quite a bit above idle  just picture the comedy moment as the engine locks solid while mucky water rains down and the poor old pilot yells BOLLOCKS at the top ...

Re: Land Rover Rustorashun

last bit for today front springs off and chassis is now ready for me to align and line up bits to weld on 20200517_151831.jpg stripped one of the heads down, aside from all inlets being full of sand they came apart easily, all valves guides are as new! Rocker gear is more than serviceable 20200517_1...
