Re: Rover P4 - Arrived!

Refurbishing/improving my very rusty bumpers So far done a flap disc, wire wheel and abrasive pad. Actually quite tempted to call it quits here and lacquer it to stop it flash rusting over! I have run out of lacquer though which is annoying as I wanted to get the bumpers back on today to give it a s...

Re: What did you do today?

Yeah it was an sri that I drove. 130bhp from a 2.0 wasn't particularly earth shattering at the time. Mazda managed that from a 1.8 and British Leyland with the Dolomite Sprint with that power 20 years earlier. But it was quick. Admittedly I had only been driving for a year or so and so probably the ...

Re: What did you do today?

The Cavalier 2.0 was a pretty fast machine back in the day. Much quicker than any right it had to be.

Re: EBay Finds

I like these a lot. Shame they're so expensive and rot just as bad as anything British Leyland.

Re: EBay Finds

Looking through the Anglia Car Auction results for today, the prices definitely seem a bit more suppressed for pre 80s stuff. Post 80s and even 00s seem to be fetching decent money still though. Good job I didn't look otherwise I probably would have ended up bidding and winning this and put the Rove...

Re: Rover P4 - Arrived!

Crikey! I knew the P4 and especially disc equipped P4 had good brakes but these rival modern cars for their stopping power! Took the old girl for a quick run on our road outside our house and nearly ended through the windscreen when I gave them a prod. Engine running okay. Feels a bit stumbly but th...

Nice number plate on that. Complete with the obligatory strategically placed white fixing.

Re: EBay Finds

You shouldn't have asked. Better to ask for forgiveness than for permission.

Problem is, I'm still asking for forgiveness on my P4 even after a few weeks.

Re: Rover P4 - Arrived!

Took the day off work yesterday to get a whole lot of bits and pieces sorted on the Rover. The choke warning light came back to life on its own. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20230401/110c447920f409358821c8c0db573fcf.jpg Bled the brakes. Not easy when you're on your own (wife at work). So used a ...

Re: Rover P4 - Arrived!

The only problem you might have with these tyres is the speedometer and mileometer over-reading. Then again, Avon Turbospeeds weren't as 'tall' as other cross ply tyres. Nothing seems to generate more misinformed bollocks in motoring circles than crossply tyres. Providing you aren't driving like a ...
