∆∆ Looking at that wiring I should mention that the old looking plastic inline fuse is factory fitted. Seemingly it was beyond them to source a larger fuse box.
The later fuse is my addition, wish I could remember what it's for.

I tried to start the car this morning to go a shopping and there was nothing when I turned the key. Warning lights came on and didn't dim, no clicks. It worked fine earlier in the week, so I used the Landrover and had a look this afternoon. Starter OK when I stuck a screwdriver across to the solenoi...

I'll tell you what, it makes all the difference when someones gone to a bit of trouble to present a motor well. There were still some Pilots in service when I was a kid, but they were greatly dispised, apparently because of their thirst. I've no idea if this was deserved or because the V8 simply frightened people off, but the fact that they were still working well into the 60's suggests they were pretty robust.
