Re: Dan's Crapi project.

Finally got time to update this. I’ve lost lots of my photos somehow though! I think last update was when I was firing the engine up for the first proper warm up? So on that theme, I’ve been regularly starting it up and getting it nice and warm. It’s running absolutely beautifully, definitely gettin...

Re: Dan's Crapi project.

Cheers for the thoughts and concerns fella’s, good to know at least some people miss me! I’ve been busy with other things lately so not really had time or inclination to write up my progress threads. I should have more time available over Xmas and new year though so I’ll get an update on here ...

Re: Dan's Crapi project.

I’ve still got no idea what the gunge was in the coolant either. Only things I can think of are: A: possibly the new radiator had some oil or flux or something like that inside it’s new brass core, which has reacted with the coolant and done that. Maybe? Never heard of that before now though? Or B: ...

Re: Dan's Crapi project.

The fuel gauge issue is, I think, the gauge itself. I’ve tested the wires which seem ok, tried shorting the wires to earth to get the gauge to move, and tried connecting my spare sender unit and moving the float up and down by hand. Non of which has any effect on the gauge so I think something is up...

Re: Dan's Crapi project.

…basically the temperature gauge went past the middle and started heading for the red, so I switched it off to cool. After a bit of checking I concluded the thermostat had to be at fault, so I ordered a new one. Once that arrived I drained the coolant and set about pulling the thermostat housing off...

Re: Dan's Crapi project.

Update time! Various small menial bits and bobs have gotten done over winter, as & when. The car also sprang a leak from under the back end, which turned out to be brake fluid. Fortunately non of it got onto any painted surfaces and the cause was just a couple of loose pipe unions so once tighte...
