Re: What did you do today?

It was yesterday, but hey... I replaced or topped up all the fluids in my Discovery. What a fucking ball-ache, I ended up lying in pools of oil for about 6 hours in total. But I did change the engine oil, gearbox oil and oil in both diffs (rear diff oil had emulsified) as well as the oil & air f...

Re: Windscreen chip repair

Hmm OK, but a lot of insurance companies don't even charge an excess for a stonechip repair. I'd give them a call anyway.

Re: Windscreen chip repair

A windscreen repair / replacement shouldn't load his premium.

Re: Disco 3 and me

Functional wading limit on a Disco 1 200TDi is the water drain thingy on the bottom of the air filter box. Deeper than that the engine breathes water and you achieve hydraulic lock. (ask me how I know.) I only just managed to avoid hydrolock that time I had water over the door handles in my 300 TDi...

Re: Disco 3 and me

Multiplug under an arch, it's almost as if the designers had no concept of the purpose of an off road vehicle! Check the official wading depth, I bet it's about 10". I'm pretty sure the D1 was around that (it was the height of the hubs). A standard Disco 1 will manage a lot more than that... I...

My Disco 2 cost the original owner £34,920, so it had depreciated by over £34,000 in just 140,000 miles :-D

Re: Disco 3 and me

Oh dear, a Disco 3... I hope it was very cheap.

Good effort for getting some of it repaired, for now.

Re: Reliable Mazda Engine: a spectral fleet thread

When's the last time anyone remembers reading a (non-Land Rover) thread about a defective manual gearbox?
