Re: 1979 Trouble Spitfire

At lunch I thought I'd have a 10 minute look at this overdrive switch to see if anything obvious is wrong. First thing I noticed was excess flash in the switch section at the top near the wording of IN. I cut it off to make square. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20230512/5ece8aef5f6333e1068ad10446...

Re: 1979 Trouble Spitfire

If there is any doubt about the overdrive not being locked out do not engage reverse gear. It will break it. I'm pretty certain it's an electrical issue as it doesn't engage in 2nd or 1st gear. In 3rd and 4th when bringing up the clutch you can feel the revs start high for a brief second and then d...

Re: 1979 Trouble Spitfire

My (temporary) fix for the speedo inaccuracies. £15 delivered first thing today by Bezo finest. Uses GPS for speed so should be pretty much spot on and a good reference when going through speed cameras. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20230512/20cb1700510355507aca6705325c1aa1.jpg At the moment it u...

Re: 1979 Trouble Spitfire

The curse of Mrs SiC and my cars... It's why my watch goes "You seem stressed at the moment. Try some breathing and relaxation exercises." when she's in it. We decided to have a walk along the seafront this evening. As it was a nice day I thought it would be a good time to take the Spitty ...

Just seen this advert, in your part of the World too, Ilminster. 71778F69-F478-4DCB-9752-46225E0FF25D.png Ah yes I've just checked the link and it's reminded me that I saw a Facebook post about it. It's all scrap. https://express.adobe.com/page/zxkWsgseIe2zq/ https://scontent-lhr8-2.xx.fbcdn.net/v/...

Re: 1979 Trouble Spitfire

Hold the clutch down and you'll get a squeal. Suspicion is on the release bearing. It's not that old as the clutch was done recently. But then modern repro parts are shite as we all know. I don't think it's the thrust bearing - I'd expect revs to change? Why? Get someone to press the clutch while y...

Just seen this advert, in your part of the World too, Ilminster. 71778F69-F478-4DCB-9752-46225E0FF25D.png I was just saying to Mrs SiC that I'm quite content with all the cars I have now and have no interest in getting anything else for a good while. So I better not look at what is in that auction....

Re: 1979 Trouble Spitfire

StIll get the odd itch for a Trump 2000, have to be a Mk1 too.....Most of my Minis looked like that Clubbie - we had MOTs back then of course without exemption but I never worried about them because I don't think a single one lasted till the next test date.... As someone pointed out on the beige, t...

I think they're cool. Nice to not see one converted to street food van too.

They do look a bit kit car like in their assembly.

You got a classic with all the gauges working?
They do! I'm not entirely sure I fully trust them to be accurate though...
