Re: That awful colour MGB GT

Water could be getting past the washer jets. A common enough fault, droplets on the tubing is a clue. Through the base of them? Good call, I'll have a look at them tomorrow. Definitely was previously leaking through the wiper spindles until I did the sealing washer on them, so plausible same issue ...

Re: That awful colour MGB GT

Probably this thread is going to end up even more boring now this car mostly seems to work*. One irritating thing is that the foot well is wet again. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190611/1eedd260c24cd1aa3b0469354532aa17.jpg Looks to be coming through the pedal box area as the pedals are wet at ...

That's a car which has been on my bucket list for a very long time.

Re: That awful colour MGB GT

Just enquired to the distributor doctor on having the original distributor rebuilt. For a rebuild, recalibration and repair of the mounting collar - £264 Ouch! Same price as a brand new 123 ignition distributor. Or I could send that CSI one off to be changed to a non immobiliser version. I have a sp...

Re: Cars that I thought would be shit but weren't.

05 plated astra would be the cdti engine with 16v and around 100bhp minimum. Joint venture with another manufacturer maybe? The GM and Isuzu was a different engine altogether. I thought the 1.7 ctdi astra h was still a Isuzu block? I know the 1.7 16v Isuzu lump with common rail injection was on the...

Re: Cars that I thought would be shit but weren't.

My last two cars ... In-fact going by my past cat history, if it seems that a proportion of people think a particular car is shit, I end up buying one. Even if I don't like them (e.g. Saab 9-3, Audi TT, etc) Audi TT MK2 Boring car but incredibly competent and being a reasonably proficient road sport...

Re: That awful colour MGB GT

Rear springs are probably what is going to be needed next - reckoned by a few at Shitefest. I quite like low back end, but apparently mine is very much on the rather low side! Aren't the Parabolic springs supposed to have a telescopic damper retro-fitted at the same time? Edit: Just noticed your Gaz...

Just got back from shitefest in this and it performed almost* faultlessly. Started off https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190608/48ed4188cf5eb618ebd41dfd2d42a009.jpg Packed plenty of tools. Mostly if I didn't, sods law dictates I'd needed them. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190608/de5ddfea5ca17...

Re: That awful colour MGB GT

As has been noted, modern fuel will run like caca if left a few months over summertime. I've seen cars started up and run just fine on proper old fuel that's been sat in the tank for 30 years (varnishes or otherwise). The older stuff, refined well with few additives- remember when unleaded was much...

New new pads fitted.
