I believe shooting brakes were 3-dr & never 5-dr.

I scored very low on the autie test. I’m cheerful, happy, confident, like meeting new people, chatty and largely sociable. What the fuck am I doing on this forum?

It's only what I've picked up from old car groups on FB.

In my Motoring Which ? 1970 RoadTest annual , there is a comparison test of two £800 odditys , both new types of car for Britain ; The Ford Capri 1600 L -An American style Personal car. And an Austin Maxi 1500- a Utility car of the type becoming popular on the Continent.
I first remember reading about hatchbacks in the mid 70’s and then only with reference to R5s, 127s etc. Maxis, R16 ( and 6) Simca 1100s and the like were lumped in with estate cars.

Shooting brakes, to my understanding, could have either 2 or 4 doors. They were after all vehicles intended to convey shooting parties as well as just a gentleman and his matching pair.

Three-and-five door counting belongs to the era of the hatchback, too!

Doesn't Drum come from a hunting, shooting, fishing background?
He'd be able to say what they were called, albeit maybe only in the frozen north.

Whilst I was in the sixth form one of the other pupils got a new one bought for his birthday, there was a hell of a money gap between the kids from his area and mine. Anyway, I got a lift in it once, on reflection it didn't seem too bad and we even stayed upright going along a lot of bendy roads to the pub.
