Cartier de Saint-Jacques

In Lost Edinburgh terms, this is a top tier rarity of a photograph.

Captured in the late '60s just prior to demolition of the tenements - hence the smashed out, boarded up windows and general dereliction - what we have here is quite possibly the only surviving colour image of St James Place from the top of Little King Street.

We are reliably informed that the Beetle is parked outside what was then the Boys Brigade hall.

This scene would all disappear within coming years to be replaced by the St James Centre.

Today of course the district is being re-shaped once more as the St James Quarter.
