Re: That awful colour MGB GT
Those clip on mudflaps don't last so I made a stainless bracket and screwed it to the thick metal of the sill endplate. The wing liner then went in and another bracket bolted to it sandwiching the liner to carry the flap. This also does away with the nasty plated self tapping screws you're supposed to secure these shoddy items with. A similar bracket does the same at the back.
The threads had been ripped off the wiper boxes long ago and I've finally got around to replacing them. This often seems to occur when stuff is not replaced carefully after a respray. Being a common car, replacements cost only £24 but Mr Internet says you must take the dash out to get at the offside one.
Happily with the seat out and steering lock removed I could just see it above the spaghetti by lying in the footwell. The motor has to come out to allow the rack to be threaded past the pinion, but I took the opportunity to change its 50 year old grease and it's all back together now. Phone gives you a much better view, it would be handy to have an endoscope built into a pair of specs, but I hope I don't have to do it again.

Moral of the story - never paint a car. I do like a "B"on nave plates, though.

Re: That awful colour MGB GT
Last time I read the word nave plate was probably back in the 1990s in a 1960s Triumph workshop manual.

The same manual should have defined "hub cap" as the small metal cup that holds the grease in.....

Re: That awful colour MGB GT
I've just googled it, I've always just called them steel wheels. I didn't know they had a proper name without trims.
