As you guys know I bought a 406. An oddity in it being only 90bhp hdi but pretty much loaded bar leather seats, sunroof and heated seats. I've got leccy seats but no memory function. Here it is when I first bought it.
Then the fun began.
The Peugeot developed a judder at around 35 mph/1800 rpm. I swapped the cam sensor, fuel temp sensor and week old fuel filter off the pic and it didnt really help. I then developed a bad vibration at 50mph too. Vibration turned out to be an engine mount which again the picasso one fitted. Not scrapping the picasso has its benefits!
Anyway, pulling into Macy d drive thru my brake pedal went rock hard and extra effort to stop it. Found master cylinder was leaking and damaged servo too. Servos are NLA and can only get one from abroad second hand or scrap yard but non local had a Peugeot 406 in. Step forward again the picasso. The picasso servo is the same diameter but the control arm was longer because on the pic it bolted to the bulkhead and connected to a rod behind dash. Peugeot servo is sat on a bracket with the rod running width of bulkhead under bonnet. Spacers made up to pull servo slightly forward so the control rod was seated right and made the longer arm the same lenght when fitted. Picasso master cylinder fitted up and new brake lines made up to the abs block. Fuck me it works. The judder at 35 has now gone too which makes me think the vacuum from servo was causing issues with egr and/or turbo gate as they are further down the vacuum line.
Finally another thing stolen iff the picasso was the under bonnet fuse box. The pug liked to put its main beam on and stay on. Another part the pic has saved me money on. Plan is to pull the engine out for spare ancillaries and engine for pug.
Official 14 seconds to 60 still is rather dire, luckily the car is comfortable while I'm wafting along at a leisurely pace!
I knew when I bought it that the brake caliper on the driver sidewas binding and so I've fitted new discs and pads to the rear and one caliper. Brake discs were truly kippered on driver side.
I've also fitted the comms2000 iff the picasso to it. Lots of contradictory info online about cross compatibility seeing as the pug had a dav unit and the citroen had a delphi unit. The pug has auto lights and wipers which the picasso didnt so I've no indicator button to disable auto lights and no auto setting in wiper stalk but by a stroke of luck the auto lights still work I just cant disable it so when I pull on drive way I switch side lights on and the auto wipers are retained by switching stalk to picasso intermittent setting. Then the fun began.
