Camper conversion?
Tart it up, make it run & road legal then sell it at a loss.
Fuck how did you know my usual business plan. It will stay a hearse but maybe so slight alterations for camping use.

Ok I will keep the hearse in my hearse thread and shove all the other daft ideas I have here. After 3 months the Corvette has arrived. The shipping company had actually cleaned it before it left the US and the items that they wouldn't agree were in the car were there when it arrived. Basically the communication from both Rinkens and the UK operation Kingston shipping has been fucking useless. The fees in the UK are a total rip off and can be done quicker by doing it myself and at less cost. I will look into becoming a shipping agent as they are so useless and expensive I know I can do a better job. So if anyone wants anything imported either from Europe or the US give me a shout and I will see what I can do to help at sensible money. Kingston wanted £150 to fill in a V55/5 which is disgusting rip off. Anyway enough about the shipping what about the 'Vette. Obviously it doesn't look as good in the flesh as it did in the photo's and it really does need paint. The chassis is really good and the birdcage seems fine as far as I can tell. There are bills for $3500 for the recommission it had with the previous owner including all new brakes, a new fuel tank and rebuilt Holley carb. When they loaded it they didn't disconnect the battery so after 3 months it was as flat as a witches tit but with a lot of coaxing has come back to life and it starts straight up now. After a bit of an inspection the only issues I have found is a leaking fuel pump, bent anti roll bar link (my fault as I caught it with the winch rope loading it) and the rear shocks are tired. The body is sound enough but the paint is flat and blistered in places so really wants doing. The interior is original and not perfect but ok. The electrics play up a bit and I need to rewire the rear lamps to get it UK legal. I now have to wait for the DVLA to get it registered before I can give it a proper run but I think it will be a bit of fun. The video is a bit crap as you can't really hear it but it is certainly a different view down the bonnet and very hard to judge where the front corners are. Ok so here we go with some pictures.

I also sold my Clio estate and bought the Citroen C1 on the truck cheap. The citroen came out of the breakers yard as it has a very light frontal. Whilst I was there I got them to weigh the truck and it is heavier than I thought and weighed in at 2200kg with me in it. Basically anything over 1300kg will be over loaded and ripe for Eddie's CBW thread

That truck needs to go on a serious diet, 1800kg is your target weight.

Yeah I was surprised it was that heavy but that was with 3/4 tank of fuel and a small tool box jump pack etc. It also had my fat arse in it. I think it must still be 2000kg if I took everything out of it. The body is pretty much all alloy so I don't know where to shave a bit of weight off. The guys at the scrap yard said to put air bags on it to make it look better and avoid junction 27 of the M5 as they are always hunting down there apparently.
Back to the Corvette I had a painter look at t this morning and it is going in for paint next week. We are keeping the 2 tone black and silver and just tidying it up as there are lots of micro blisters when you get up close. I did the paperwork this morning and sent that off to the black hole that is Swansea so lets see how long that takes for them to send it back for some daft inexplicable reason.

How much does the passenger seats weight? Probably a good 100kg or so there between them?

How much did your Corvette cost in the end, door-to-door?

Saw this one at a meet today and I liked it very much. Not anywhere near as big as I expected. Especially for something yank.

My 'Vette stands me in around 7k If I remember correctly. About 5k to buy and a couple of grand covers shipping, insurance and the vat. That red one does look nice and hopefully mine will look as good once done. I don't have much to do to it really just the rear lights need sorting to give amber indicators at the rear.

That's almost ... affordable. Are they around as a manual? Or super rare?
