I bought some lovely clear headlights and fancy led sidelights that double as indicators. I've been putting them off as the last time I changed a bulb, I broke a couple of those spring clip things that grip the metal that the self tapper goes into. Anyone any idea what they're called?

Oh I know the things, sorta C shaped and clip over a hole. No idea on the name though, I need one for a machine screw myself.

I may have misunderstood, as usual, but they sound like the things used to hold in VW T2 headlights.
If they are look on the Custom and Commercial website.

You get those above that take self-tappers and a version that is properly threaded that takes a machine screw.

They hold bits of the RT's Tupperware together, so I have some M5 ones in the shed.

They hold bits of the Strumpet together too, but one had stripped so there is a nut & bolt through one underneath it. A new clip would be much easier in future.

Put the new clear lights in this afternoon. The surrounds were a bit scabby so I coated them in vactan before refitting. You don't see them anyway. I was going to keep the old ones for originality but to me they looked fucked.
The left one is changed in the photo. They look exactly the same switched on. I thought they'd be brighter.

Now that's a happy, smiley car.
