I know exactly what you mean. If I drive it through the tiniest of puddles it all somehow ends up on the bonnet or windscreen. It's remarkable how they managed to get it to do that.

I quite like having sidewalls on my tyres, thanks.

I should add an edit to say; they are a lovely design of wheel though. I'd just prefer them in 16" so I could have some sidewall.

Suppose I should post an update.

The Alfa 147 got sold to another member of AS last week.

The BMW 323i is going in for recall work this coming week. Apparently something to do with a steering column joint.

I have some new (to me) wheels winging their way to me at some point in the next few days:

The 205 has just had new lower arms and front wheel bearings fitted. It's now noticeably quieter to drive. Something still knocks occasionally. It's when changing from 1st to 2nd, and also over bumps. I suspect perhaps an engine mount, or even just an exhaust mount. It certainly doesn't feel like anything sinister is going on anyway.

I did 50 miles in it today round a few local lochs. Most of that time was spent cornering on the door handles.

I overtook a number of people too chicken to do more than 30mph on some of the rougher bits of road. I assume they were worried about their 22" alloys and rubber band tyres. The 205, in comparison, feels like an off-roader with the amount of sidewall and suspension travel it has. :D

205s are for winners!
I've said it before and, I'm sure I'll say it again.

I've had a early gearbox in sump one, a 1.4 GT, a diesel and the last one was a Gentry. GT was best, diesel worst, Gentry was ruined by being an auto and its silly name.

The E36 steering UJ recall was 15 years ago.

The best Alfa is a sold one.

About that recall.

I arranged over the phone, roughly a fortnight ago, to drop it off yesterday.

I turned up, and they said park in the yard round the back. Alright, but before I did that I asked if I get a courtesy car or even just a lift home.

"No. Courtesy cars are for sales only. No lift home either."

So, Mr Cockwomble, what exactly am I meant to do? I'm 5 miles from home in an industrial estate with no public transport, on a Sunday.

I didn't drop it off with them. Instead I drove my OMG DEATHTRAP on a roughly 100-mile round trip over to Pittenweem for an early festive dinner (see, I didn't say the C-word) with some of the extended family.

Do I try phoning them today, now that the actual mechanics are in, and see what they say? The only people in yesterday were the shiny-suited salescunts.

I would. They might do it while you wait or even pick it up and drop it off for you.
