I would leave the gearbox. Acceleration is a lot more fun than top speed.

2.5 323i engines are worth a lot less. That will go in nicely and it’ll go like fuck on the 3.45 final drive. 5th gear 70-120 will be pretty lively.

I think I've mentioned but I used to run fiesta 950 and 1.1 boxes on my flowed, ported and tuned xr2 crossflowed engined supersport.
Rapid as fuck off the mark but maxed out around 90mph. They disn't use to last long either but they were only £20 a pop at the time so I wasn't really bothered.

Aye, I'd be happy even with a 2.5.

The Saab got some love yesterday.

I sprayed lubricant down the throttle cable from the engine bay end, and then all over the return spring on the throttle body.

I should have done it months ago, what a difference! The pedal has always been quite stiff, even giving my foot mild cramp when holding a steady speed for long periods (base model so no cruise control).

Regarding the BMW maybe I should just go for this instead (haha, no).

Various bits of rust and damage, welded diff, rubber band tyres, decat, and still registered as a 1.6. A Barryboys bingo card would almost be showing a full house.
