Tbf the MOT man did point out the crusty bit on the front sill that I thought needed welding. Because it was a perfectly round hole in it, he couldn't fail as it looked factory hole.
I'll probably cover the area with krust and protect it while it hasn't gone through.

I forgot to post this. Seems quite high for me, but then I don't know what is normal for these engines. In the history there is a time where the CO got to 4.3%!

Congratulations on the MOT.
When I made that comment you had said you were going to restore the car, not just bung it through an MOT and flog it.
There will be plenty of hidden rust.

Re: 1985 BMW E28 520i
This is where the temperature needle sits when sat stationary in traffic. I think this is fairly normal position? I don't know how these gauges operate and if they have a middle dead zone like so many modern cars. Doesn't get higher than this, so I'm not concerned there is anything wrong here.
Odo is showing 34 miles completed. Reassuring both the Speedo and odometer works now the cluster PCB was fixed.

No mention of restoration in my OP!

That's the intention anyway as I don't have time for too much more, given the Dolomite is taking my time up and the others need fettling too (1100 front calipers and also selling it, MGB service). Likely scenario is getting the above list done so I can drive it to the MOT station and let them sort anything else out needed for that if anything other comes up.

Re: 1985 BMW E28 520i
The only difference in the original plan is to potentially sell it rather than use it. If I really was looking to maximise profits, I'd not have done half the work I've done to it.
Part of the exercise has been to learn something new. This has done that - not only classic BMW but also L-Jetronic. I enjoying working on cars as well as driving them. Not really much left to fix on this now as it's a usable car.

Re: 1985 BMW E28 520i
That just sounds too sensible.
I still need to clean it, take photos, write an advert, decide a price and invite people around to look at it. So possibly will be a little while before it goes anyway. Now I've paid tax on it, I probably should get some use out of it. Hell, I've put £30 of petrol in (and 10 litres of old Dolomite petrol... )
Need to decide whether to take photos on alloys or steels. I think alloys will help here. Especially as the tyres are actually have some softness to them.
