No, I just want to get all the rot sorted out before it's too late. No rush in getting the rest fixed but I want to eliminate the rust while my current lifestyle allows me to. I now intend to keep this car indefinitely and just gradually improve the rest.
We (well, not really me) are looking at moving house at some point in the next year so at some point soon cars will have to take a back seat to all that hassle. There is starting to be more talk of procreation too...
As I'm only the deputy, the only criteria I have given management is that if it doesn't have a garage then there must be space for me to build one.

Re: Sacre wob, more R16 welding and filling
Well, I've made a start on the left hand side. Thought I would start with this little bit of grot
But then I got a bit carried away and cut it all out, including the panel behind
That'll keep me busy for a bit...OMG U OK HUN?

Thank god you didn't become a surgeon - you'd go in for an ingrowing toenail and come out with one leg less.

Some bits of metal:
Some dark wob:
Some light wob:
Whilst tidying up the solid left hand sill I decided to wire brush the small bits of rust
With the inevitable outcome:
If you think this makes boring reading, just think how I feel. Every day is Groundwob DayOMG U OK HUN?

How difficult would you consider changing the entire outer sills?
Your sill extensions to the rear suspension anchors look alright, btw.

Not too difficult to change the whole sill. just time consuming. I have one I could put on but I don't want to get into that right now, it's not bad enough. Besides, I just want to crack on and get it painted!

Re: Sacre wob, more R16 welding and filling
Primered were the repairs
Then looked for something else to do so I took a door off and cleaned the door shut Got bored of that so thought I would have a go at the scuttle panel which is held in with a couple of screws. It has some small holes and a crusty flap (calm down warren) Not wanting to make plates, I just filled the holes with weld. It was getting too late for grinding. I soaked the flap in an acid bath to dissolve the rust. It's just neat acid out of batteries I have scrapped. After a few hours it looked like this. It needs a bit longer but didn't want to leave it overnight in case it dissolved. This has happened to me before with something I forgot about once...
