Talk about your cars etc here. Keep it sort of sensible and on topic please.

I know this will be a daft question, but how can bulbs affect the gearbox?

High resistance shows as a low voltage or failed/short. So HDC etc etc goes into limp mode/fault

My D3 shows HDC fault every time I start it at the moment. It clears immediately.
I use whatever shite bulbs I have lying about about - although it hasn't needed any for a while.
I know this is a hostage to fortune, but I am on the same battery its had for at least the last 10 years.
99% of faults on my DIsco have been cured by stopping it and restarting it.
I am currently using it for the school run which is a 1.6 mile round trip (don't tell Greta) - it is definitely not ideal for this, but it's doing it.

I have everything crossed.

Mine's a manual.
2005 Land Rover Discovery SE Manual
2003 Mercedes E320 Estate
1968 AMC Rebel SST Convertible
1967 AMC Rebel SST Convertible (for parts)
1994 Fleetwood Colchester 1850 EB

Hoping for roffle win :)

I was going to post burn him! about the school run but what can you say now as burning people creates CO2? Dissolve him causes toxic liquids etc.etc.. Bury him?

Mine's a manual.
Other stuff that can cause it - all relatively easy to check.

Ps - mines worse now I've sorted crap bulbs - more on this later...

Battery. Battery, battery. Check in cranking/charge rate obviously. Then check voltage drop with a decent battery tester.

Mine says 13.98v/14.05v load / no load.
Cranking 10.58v
Lowest voltage 9.2v (or similar).

That low voltage 'spike' is enough. So battery next.
if yours test ok - fine.

Check the fuel pressure reading (HP side) - the sensor on the rail* is prone to giving odd readings which throws limp up.

Check /change fuel filter if it hasn't been done.

:-)

Faulty sensor or oil contamination of loom giving random values?

It's LR electrics, have you put the wrong wattage bulb in the interior lamp?
