It's weird though as it only does it after pulling off hard the first time after starting the engine. It'll flash and hold back the engine until you let off the throttle for a bit for it stop flashing. Tyres aren't slipping either so it hasn't lost traction.

Anytime you pull off hard after it's fine.

I mean it's almost certainly going to be a wheel speed sensor or pickup, but I've not had one fail like this before. Until I get a code, I don't know which wheel is playing up. So it'll have to stay with this quirk until it does.

They also look a bastard to replace by seizing in and needing drilling out.

I think the clutch is slipping ever so slightly when WOT between 3.5k and 4k. Revs increase, drop back slightly and increase. Booting it up a hill in a high gear doesn't cause it to slip though. 

I think clutch jobs a big job on these?

Twist or stick? Remember this will have to go in July time anyway due to Bristol CAZ.

I've had wheel speed sensors go funny when they got hot.

They'd fail to read below about 10mph, quite randomly.

That made stopping fun* as the ABS cut in and did the "braking on snow" thing.

Tbh I'm more worried about the clutch as that's harder to ignore.

Do you know off hand how many hours job?

Clutch? 6-7 hours or thereabouts.

Yeap a clutch is not a nice job subframe off etc which usually ends up with broken bolts. Punt it on before it gets really bad

Hmm. So probably like £400-£600 sort of range, depending on part costs. It has a DMF too, so probably makes sense for that to be replaced. Valeo solid flywheel clutch kit is £300 from Neo Bros, I guess £600-£650 or so fitted.

Less of an issue if it was Bristol CAZ exempt. Might just run as is for now and see how we get on. Clutch is a bit on the high side but not excessively so.

As it's only in certain cases, I'll run it for now and see how I get on. Does make me wonder if this was the reason it as shifted on.

I was going to ask if you would be prepared to take it on as a job. I'll take that as a big no then

I will have a look and see how much the bits were when I did the lads one the other year but it is worth changing the flywheel at the same time. I wouldn't fit a solid one though as it just isnt worth the extra hassle.
