I've seen worse tbh, fingers crossed the inners aren't too bad. I know there's one bit of a hole in the back of the one, only one way to find out I suppose.

I've just had a message about the Merc. The TPS fault has been found and cured! It's made a substantial difference to the operation of the auto box apparently so no more savage shunting down changes by the sounds of it?

Tom has also managed to find a way of exporting a map to the ECU
"Sorted tps. Tried a map today. Made a mistake on idle quantity so need to do it again. But looks like I can export maps, write them and car works. Need to do another ecu tbh and buy some new EPROMs"

So we may well be finding out just how much torque one of those auto boxes can handle soon all being well? AFAIK it's the weakest link in the chain if everything else is healthy?

If it works I'm quite looking forward to it. Literally pop the bonnet, unplug and plug in another ECU, start car and 200 +BHP should be released.

As my 405 has been taken out of hibernation we took that and the E class to a pub car meet last night. Not much of a turnout sadly as about 3 hours before it turned really dark, looking like heavy rain, probably put a lot off?
As it was, good pint, cheap burgers and an eclectic mix. Love a Noble and an apt number plate. Bonkers rear engine mini, space frame rear end 500bhp plus, Rav 4 with MR2 turbo conversion, silly Type R turbo etc.
The mini van won a prize for best turned out. Sure we'll be going again.
Every Wednesday?

I'll pop up

I had a go at this today. I didn't get as far as I hoped as I had to go and meet Grumpius to sell the Xsara in the middle of it and when I got back it was pissing it down

The bit on the right hand side is an arse. I'll have to do that from underneath. I've seen a lot worse tho :-)

I did take a spot drill with me but just sanded the twats off in the end as there were loads of them.

They came with the van, no idea where they are from. The owner had pop riveted them on I 1970's style to get a pass and come away empty handed. I found the remains of the rivets as I was cutting it out  They're too long at the bottom anyway so will need a bit of fettling.

I don't know tbh  He's certainly not daft and very practical skills wise. Apparently he used to have a gas set in the late seventies/early eighties and ride round brazing sills up for people then. I'm assuming he'd assumed that that dodge was still acceptable?

What a day to be trying to do this thing. Oh for some shelter and a 2 post ramp, how fucking windy, FML 😐 Using a Sprinter van etc as a wind break.

Yet again. Only the finest equipment available. It beats using a vice and two bits of angle and a hammer tho 🙂 This particular folder seems to be following me around. I used to use it while working for a firm about 20 years ago.

Fucking dreadful 😐 I've sprayed all the insides with zinc rich paint after a good wire brushing so hopefully it'll be ok for a while?

I’ve had patches let into the sills of my Connect. Such a shame Ford didn’t spend a few more cents on paint: I’ve never had a motor with such thin paint! Sills apart, it is really very solid for a 14 year old Transit. I think the sills suffer because they are part of the single, huge, side panel and therefore really thin steel. Good job they are zinc coated or they would have needed doing ten years ago! Fuck, the Mk1 Transit I learned to drive in was like a lace doiley at 6years old.
Damn good little vans, Mk1 Connects. Wouldn’t give the current model even half marks mind you. A hateful thing compared to what it replaced.
