It had a fair run and there's a fairly long, steep hill on the way to the test station which I'm sure will have helped. It started first touch of the key, other than that it's got the standard hanging handbrake cable. He just handed over the money and drove it away, TBH he doesn't give a fuck what he's driving as long as it gets there. I remember being in a Mk2 Escort van as a kid he'd been given for spares. He ran it till the MOT was up. The passenger seat was balanced on bits of wood and I had a fairly clear view of the tarmac passing underneath as we travelled down the road.

Pretty sure it'll die with him but you never know? He used to be good with old nails, always checking the oil and water in them as it's their life blood after all. Sadly he's let that habit go over the years. He had a Terios, great little truck, especially for where he lives in the winter. The daft cunt did 55K in it without having the oil changed, just ran it, when the light finally came on he went in a garage and saw the price of oil. The 20/50 he bought as it was the cheapest there pretty much finished it off.

The scabby old thing repaid the old man with it's new MOT by shitting the battery. I've taken the one of his knackered MG TF and that seems to have done the trick. What a fuck on I had trying to get the old one off. Who the fuck uses an 8mm bolt to secure a negative terminal, it was so tight it was rounding off and only had access to the old man's shitty tool kit*
He upped the value of it by 50% this afternoon by filling it up Looked at the clocks earlier and turns out it's only got 76k on it.

Maybe because my old man doesn't believe in quality tools and I forgot my cheapo but great little socket set. If you look at the photo of the m8 closely there are two little tabs, these were stopping me from getting anything properly on the bolt, a gentle* levering/hammering/butchering allowed me to get a bit of purchase on it. I used a 16mm spanner on the end of the 8mm as a lever in the end before it let go with a satisfying snap. Bloody tight!
