Bashed another piece of metal into an appropriate shape.

Added a few holes to weld through. Offered up into place to give a visual.

Jury rigged the horns up through the relay, using the new horn wiring in the steering column. First time that's worked in a long time.

Yup. I consider that to be "just right". It should be a little deeper once it's actually done because the firewall will act as a sounding board, like a guitar.

Either way, it suits the car just fine.

Today, scraping decades of dirt and old underseal off the body.

Then, attacking with orbital sander and 120 grit.

That's where I ran out of time. More shall follow. Also adapted the vacuum cleaner to hook to the back of the sander, significantly less dust from this procedure as a result.

Also don't forget that this is 1951 American steel, not a lot of Taiwanese oxygen with a few ferrous molecules embedded in it.
