Tonight's task: repair passenger side front door lock. Take a coat hanger and liberate the metal piece.

Bend to shape, improving on previous owner's attempt. Quite why both front door lock pins were missing is beyond me.

Fit in place, reassemble door and revel in a lock that works properly.

Now we wait. Just ordered brake shoes, hydraulic cylinders, flexi pipes and some engine gaskets for the car.

Clearer than the old one by a fair margin.

That was a little treat to myself.

So that's like one of those stick on reversing 'windows' from the 80s & saves you craning your neck to see the lights?

Pretty much, except it's just a big thick chunk instead of the mostly-flat ribbed fresnel ones that go in the back window.

Tonight because with a little bit of Blue Peter style modification of the LED bulbs I bought (and subsequently didn't use because they were a strange hue) using a turquoise marker pen.

Yup, we are leaving the jet age and flying straight into the space age with that.

I like that. Very late fifties Chrysler.

Pressure washed a lot of crap off the front suspension this evening in prep for doing the brakes.

I struck another item off the todo list tonight. The rear right glass now winds up and down but the closing panel is missing off the door and that has the lower stop for the glass attached to it. With that missing, the glass can wind down to the "remove mechanism" position, the top scissor arm would fall out of the end of the runner and jam the window in the fully down position.
I don't have enough steel to make a closing panel so I decided to improvise.

I cut out a piece of flat steel bar.

It slots into the channel them slips over the mounting point.

Using a longer mounting bolt, a washer and nut screw on to the other side and secure it in place. Now the window winds fully down but doesn't get stuck.
I'll put the door card back on tomorrow.

Minor faults like windows falling out are often more annoying than cars not running or driving I find. Nice fix.
