That one needs to be replaced. Gonna pull the rest out and see if any more are bad.

Sad thing was it was sealing well enough to run- that cylinder was firing quite well.

Glad that your well on the way to having the Chieftain running properly.
Sad that the poor valves are such a mess.

Are replacement valves of decent quality easy to get ?

These are replacements, and they appear to be decent enough quality- just as with anything there may have been a bad one amongst them.

I'll find out more once I get the rest pulled out.

Pulled a bunch of valves out and cleaned them.

So far they're all straight and clean apart from no.7 exhaust so I'll just order a replacement and that'll get that sorted.

That's really wierd, how would you bend a valve on a side valve engine?

I really don't know. None of the other valves are bent, I'm guessing faulty manufacture.
