Took the car for a high speed run last night (60!) for 7 miles which it did with no complaint.
It still takes getting used to does the exhaust note. At 2500 it sounds like a Morris Minor screaming it's tits off at 5000.

The weather today is pleasant so I took the car to the office to get my new laptop, and then went to Taco Bell to get lunch. The car started getting a little lumpy because it was getting warm waiting in line but managed not to disgrace itself.

I had a thought and decided to cycle the gears from drive to low-range several times because that causes a moderate amount of fluid to be dumped through the valve block.
Net result was incredibly positive, the gears changed smoothly pulling out of the drivethru so that's the "fix" for when the gears start to misbehave when hot with this fluid. I'm thinking the high mileage stuff might help, it's meant to retain a higher viscosity at high temperature.

I got m finally got fed up of the racket the fan belt was making. I figured the belt was just a shade too deep and the cooling fins were touching the bottom of the pulley.
That assumption was correct. I rested a file on the alternator bracket and trimmed a small amount off the bottom of the belt as it went round at idle.

Silence!

I hadn't realized just how tiring that noise was while driving. As a result I spent an hour lubricating various parts of the car up to get rid of squeaks and rattles.
It's now a really pleasant drive- I do need to make an adapter for my grease gun now so I can grease the rear leafs up, they're noisy, creaking.

Every little helps.

I shot some Dynax into my Farina leaves with the car as high on stands as I could get it - only because I failed miserably to get grease in there by any method. Quietened them down for a good while. I did take the wheels off, partly for access and to stop shizz going all over the tyres (I bagged the drums up, too).

Been doing a lot of driving locally for work; the Pontiac is performing duty as Primary Vehicle. It's been doing well.

Yup, particulary when you walk away from the car and fine yourself turning round to glance at it again.

A few high speed trips have helped the running, stopped at a light now you can barely feel it running, and it's quite happy to glide down the highway at 45-55 all day long.
