I adjusted one brake one notch too tight and the leading shoe was binding.

Yup, jacked it up and backed the adjuster off.

Once it cooled off it was okay but it was still tepid to the touch when I got home so that needs looking at properly.
I think the bias needs to be reset, I have a feeling the leading shoe is grabbing.

Front brake? I used to have trouble setting the TLS front drums on my old Farina, even with new adjusters they seemed to need an intermediate setting that wasn't there.....The ones on my Cowley seem fine (as did my Minors, Minis, A35s etc.). I wonder if some modern replacement shoes are not exactly profiled and don't "sit" right.
There's a great long bar in Rock & Roll heaven.......

Rear. It doesn't help that the shoes got a bit oily, that makes them grab.

These ones were too big, the manufacturer states they're 30 thou' oversize to account for worn drums; my drums aren't worn so they had to go in off center and bed in.
That process still isn't finished, hence routine adjustment.

I need to take the drum off and clean the backplate. All the oil burned off last night given the volume of smoke...

And a chocolate malt!

Carburetor is definitely jetted for colder weather as it's buzzing along really happily right now. Brake needs adjusting a little more, tightened up a couple of hoses but the heater is really good and it's otherwise running nicely.

Went out some DeOxit on a few high current contacts tonight, and discovered the master cylinder has puked all the brake fluid onto the floor and the service brake is inop.

Fun times. At least it had the grace to do that in the garage.

I'll pull the master off and inspect the bore and see if it'll work with just new seals or not.

I scored very low on the autie test. I’m cheerful, happy, confident, like meeting new people, chatty and largely sociable. What the fuck am I doing on this forum?

Yeah everything that's been pushed into service again that I hadn't changed has broken.
Old cars are great
