190E cut out again today....Been a good few weeks since the last incident but obviously the £200 worth of relays haven't solved it. Nor the fuel injection make-over. I am now convinced this is going to be something fucking stupidly abnormal like a loose wire moving under braking or summat. It has about three weeks MOT left on it now but I need it for a bit longer so I am biting the bullet on the welding it needs and shoving it in next month for a test.

It is just going to have to breakdown properly before any more cash gets thrown at that particular issue....

Some dodgy looking fella was staring at me so I said hello just to be polite in case he tried to rob me. This is Kidderminster after all. Turns out he had a Marina and a nice one too so I recruited him to our cult.

I met him a while back when taking the MG to the old mans. He was having carb problems so pointed him towards Eric Weaver Motorsport, no idea if he took the advice or not.

Bought this in a charity shop today , UT models Ford Escort WRC 1 : 18 , missing rear spoiler, mirror and roof vent . Great base for modifying £2.. anyone want it ? Postage will be 1kg , it's heavy 800g ! They're expensive on ebay ..

Got a chunk of time yesterday so got back to the 96, cleaned up the trim, replaced the headlights with some much better ones I'd bought. Looks like a car that has a few parts taken off now rather than a car in pieces so pleased.

Converted a premade headlight relay loom to work with the MGB without having to have loads of excess cables. Need to just add a long lead to the starter for a proper strong electrical connection.


I removed the second headlight section from the loom as I'll use the stock MGB wiring. After removing the spade connector from the relay terminal, this mess confronted me.


Good old Chinese workmanship. Almost as bad as 70s British.

Unfortunately the crappy side was the section I wanted to keep. Ended up chopping the good wire and splicing onto the bit I needed to keep.

I've lost count of the bits and pieces like this I have lobbed in the bin over the past few years. The bits of wiring that some old giffer twisted and taped up on the Minor back in the 70s have proven far more reliable....

Yeah it's why I inspect as much as I can before fitting it. Especially if it's from China or India. It is useful that Moss allows you to looks at the parts over the counter before you hand over your money at their branches.
