It's owned by a father and son, when the father bought the fuselage back in the 60's he put it on a rather lengthy trailer and towed it to his bungalow behind his circa 1964 Singer Vogue estate where he put the trailer/fuselage combo down the side of the residence in a suburban street. You'd get people moaning about that these days.
I bet people did then, cunts.

I knew a helicopter pilot once who explained that western aircraft had a throttle quadrant that could be advanced into a sector that was unsustainable for any serious length of time, and it was understood that this could only be used in extremis.

Russian ones are apparently designed to use the protocol that the operator will always expect to turn any given control to maximum - like Ice Cream van chimes and certain religious building extenal PA systems.

That explains the multi-band Soviet radio I used to own - with a volume thumbwheel calibrated to "11"

Oh bother. A set back for another few days then. Let's not talk about the rounded off bolt heads when trying to remove the pump again.

What's happened there then? Did you disturb the water pump?

I replaced it earlier on in the job. Made the fatal mistake of not filling the system back up until at the end of the job. Should have done it when I did the pump early on in this job.

Also the instructions for the pump said specifically not to use joint sealing compound. I was tempted to ignore that advice but decided to follow the instructions to the letter.

When it was leaking after filling I made the second fatal mistake of trying to tighten up the bolts up that were leaking. I had already tightened them to the correct torque, so effectively I was over torquing them. Heads rounded off when I conceded defeat and knew the pump was going to have to come back off again.

So my fuck up along with not trusting my intuition and following the instructions to the letter.

With luck they will only be rounded the one way and will undo ok.
Got to say though if it said not to use sealing compounds I wouldn't have either, do it's not just you.

Just need yet another new pump now. Also a trip to Renault for 2 new bolts. Luckily the pumps are pretty cheap. GSF premium pump is only 25 quid.

I am really surprised that doesn't have a gasket as that even looks like the ghost of one on the block. I would always use sealer on them but the amount that was leaking makes me suspect something else may of been amiss. Check the new pump very carefully to make sure that it is correct.
