What did you do today?

Talk about your cars etc here. Keep it sort of sensible and on topic please.

Booked Discovery into LR specialists so they can tell me the bad news about the front diff and give me clue about the EGR valves too.
It's not bad on either count (for a Land Rover) the EGR valves are about 6 years old and the diff is the original and has done 150K with only an oil change or two and they are notorious from being made of cheese (faults on the early ones like mine are - painted interior - paint peels off and fucks up the bearings - LR stopped painting them for later ones - and a badly designed breather pipe that blocks easily - again modified for later models)
I think I am probably playing cambelt roulette on age if not miles yet.

Nothing on the car today, but I have started on dinner. Baked ham, marinated in vodka and orange, with a dab of allspice on top, will get a honey glaze once it's done.
Got baked macaroni to do and sweet potato casserole too.

Happy Thursday!

One thing I can't stand on cars is them smelling. Especially from Cigarette smoke, being a non smoker.

The Clio is smelling fusty from a few years of continuously being damp inside. So when a OZone fogger popped up as a black Friday deal I grabbed one.

The idea is that OZone is an unstable molecule and wants to shed one of its oxygen atoms. So anything it hits, it breaks down the chemical bond and thus making it less smelly. Or something along those lines.

Inside is surprisingly well made considering it's a random brand from China.

Turning it on makes dangerous sounds and smells that you might expect from such a thing coming from China. Certainly not something you want to be near for any length of time.

Going to give it a run in the Clio in a bit and see what effect it has. Probably end up burning the car to the ground. 😆

I love them smelling, but it must be an age-related whiff - be it new car smell or Player's No.6.

Cars smelling of dog can gtf though.

I bought a Mk1 Mini back in the 70s....It fucking pen-and-inked. Not horribly like dog or sick but of Aunty Pauline's bathroom - that sweet, flowery, overpowering Glade-y type of artificial ponk. It wasn't until I cut the fucking thing up for scrap that I found a horrid plastic cage thing like a fussy Aunt would hang in the toilet bowl. It was underneath the back seat.....

Unfortunately it is all too easy to lose the good smell out of a car - My A60 smelt glorious on a wet day - until the carpets finished their decomposition and I put new ones in with modern insulation. Then it smelt like a newly-leased office block.
There's a great long bar in Rock & Roll heaven.......

Even after 30 years sitting around my Reliant Regal has a glorious whiff of...Regal Kingsize.
