If you can see any difference that's what I've done. OK, I've moved the bridge downwards a bit as the angles was wrong. It sounds a bit better but still it's not enough. I'm a beginner on the double bass and at my age I'm never going to master it, but I'm mainly playing with myself in the bedroom and enjoy smacking away on it.

Here's one for ya, Cros......Fireballs UK just happen to be my favourite modern band. Although most exponents of the "British" sound advocate electric bass, Martin Smith prefers the old bull fiddle and it works just fine. Not many folk actually realise that the first release of Move It still utilised upright bass and Jet Harris only appeared on the album cut of the song.

Will keep an eye out for them. Speaking of which, did you ever come across this bloke?

Even this site isn't suitable to expand further on his antics. Moving on, many years ago I saw a band called Rocket Three who used a teachest bass to amazing effect. Hope they still do.
Lastly, I've just been reading a series of 3 books which starts with this one.

I was well impressed with the blokes knowledge from 62 onwards, before that I have to take it on trust.

See above. (Convoluted way of posting, I know)

Saw Freddie many a time, great fella if a little unpredictable - he came close to burning a school hall down with his fiery piano antics round our way! I haven't read the Robin Bell book but my mate rates it and he knows pretty much the 59-62 period as well as anybody....

Finally managed to get the vacuum pipe reattached to the mercs autobox. The curse of having large hands that wouldn't fit into a small gap. Had to drop the box down eventually to gain access. Whilst I was at it I changed the autobox filter and replaced the fluid so hopefully after all this I will get smooth gearchanges again. The old fluid was pretty clean and inside the pan was spotless so hopefully the box has plenty of life left in it. Next job is to attempt to get the abs sensor out the diff housing. In anticipation of a failure I've already ordered a bulb timer to sort the abs light out.

Steel finally in above the wall.

Builder suggested they might* have internal wall down by tomorrow so I decided to give an illustration of the level of progress I expect in a day by knocking down half the wall myself after work in a few hours and tidying up afterwards properly wotha brush and a mop.

Not to mention also cleaning the bricks with a brick hammer and palleting up the good ones (160 odd).

Piano and glass eye abuse- perhaps not the most obvious ticket to stardom, but todays the X factor culture is certainly the worse for the lack of such diversity.
I worked with a drummer after he'd done a stint with Freddie around 1975. Transport was a newish LWB Bedford CF which would have been a luxury by the standards of time were it not for the pianist's insistence on carrying a full size upright instrument. This was inserted transversely through the side door thus encroaching severely into the seating/copulating area.
If the venue's keyboard was deemed suitable it was a great relief to the band members who would be spared the ordeal of lugging their own on stage. The availability of a full sized grand would present Mr Lee with the opportunity to have drums and drummer perched on top, nails being driven through the lid to prevent the lot from sliding off. Unsurprisingly, this and the pyrotechnics were often the cause of considerable distress to the management.
