Two wheels good.

Talk about your cars etc here. Keep it sort of sensible and on topic please.

Then tonight this happened.

It's an AJS Daytona 125, the Chinese own the name now but it's quite a comfy thing & looks decent for a 125. It's not mine, it's a friend's daughter's bike. She threw it down the road on it's LH side over a year ago & it needs the engine changing as it smashed up the side cases & has done something to the gearbox. She's never been able to do it as no idea how & still having leg ops from the crash. There is a spare engine behind it, which I plan to throw in the frame soon & see what happens. Only other thing it needs is a replacement LH forward control set as the bracket was smashed in the crash too.

Potato cam update...

I got bored tonight & the new engine is now in, took 2 1/2 hours including swapping an engine mount & water pump outlet over. Along with working out how everything came apart. Still to do is find some bolts to replace the missing two from the chainguard (it's only got three in total!) the the LH exhuast can go on. After that it just needs the tank plonking on & fluids before I can see if the new lump works.

I'm assuming that isn't a hard tail? The basic geometry of that isn't bad is it!

No it's got a shock horizontally under the electrics area, just like a lot of proper tractors.

I've found out they sell a 500cc lump that fits in, I think it'd make a nice cruiser with that much grunt. It's definitely comfy to it on, unlike normal 125s.

A serious tidy of all the cables and wiring, a bit of a tweek to the head stock angle, some longer forks and that wouldn't look bad at all, its a damn sight better factory effort looking like a custom than most hipsters make in trying to turn things into a cafe racers...

I drove past there yesterday lunchtime and noticed a few bikes , looked more like a weekend than a Tuesday. I was taking my brother to Coventry to pick up his new bike - a KTM Super Duke , which he’s signed up for a PCP on. His argument is if he kills himself on it Then he won’t ever have to worry about the balloon payment!
Seems he loves it, he got back to MK at 10 last night . Came home via Derbyshire and The Cotswolds, grinning like a teenager.

You probably passed as I was there. I left for home around one o’clock.
Glad your bro likes his new bike.

It's together & running. I've sorted a few issues like chainguards held on with luck & headlights clamped* by a cable tie as I've done it too. Just need to source a baseplate for the LH forward controls & a LH handlebar switch gear and it's useable.

Makes a nice noise for a 125, I should have done a video.
