Re: Two wheels good.
Jap stuff just doesn't have any build quality....
My GSX14 needs the rear wheel bearings replacing. They've only been in since new a mere 18 years and 136k ago.
I think I'll do the fronts as well, just to be safe. The next set had better get me to at least 250k.

Re: Two wheels good.
But are the replacements of the same quality?
They've probably been outsourced to some new plant in China.
The MGB and VW T2 parts I buy now are usually shit compared to years ago, everything is made to the lowest price.

Re: Two wheels good.
Bearings are usually made to strict tolerances, I do tend to buy known brands and always go for C3 which is crankshaft quality.
Obviously if buying from who flung dung crispy duck and bearing company via Ali express your tolerances may be a little looser when the bamboo gives a bit.

Re: Two wheels good.
Did you check the price of genuine with Fowlers?
Nobody does usually but sometimes they can be the right price, same with brake pads, tyres and chain and sprocket kits for certain bikes.

No I didn't tbh, I know the steering bearings are a rip-off as is everything else I've ever priced up.

Re: Two wheels good.
Fair enough it was only working on the parts counter in the bike shop with time to spare that I used to know what was cheaper OEM.
Consumables used to come in at about 40% discount at the time too. Opposed to the 5-30% on other items.

Well steering bearings for example are about £75 from Suzuki or £25 elsewhere.

Yikes!
Bloody hell I just looked up bearings and brakes, yeah don't bother with that idea!
