I can't begin to describe how fucking awkward the Olds is being. The exhaust manifold bolts are practically inaccessible from below. I tried making space from above by removing the aircon compressor associated hoses, pipes and gubbins. Apparently, only a qualified specialist is allowed to depressurise an aircon or everyone will die. I tried doing it anyway and reckon it's lost all its pressure already. Not that it matters as I can't get the fucking compressor off. One long bolt won't pass the clutch mechanism and I'll be fucked if I'm dismantling that. So I thought I would remove the bracketry that the compressor is attached to, but there are things in the way and the bolts need triple jointed spanners. I gave up as other things need done.

My dumper wasn't playing ball as one of the brake drums had seized up.


Then I thought I would secure the fuel tank properly as the straps holding it on were in the wrong place and it was shaking itself to buggery. Of course as soon as I moved it, diesel started pissing all over my boots.

Oh good.


Do diesel tanks explode when you weld them? I thought I should take some precautions, just in case, so washed the tank out with gunk and water then stuck it on the end of the kubota's exhaust pipe until it was dry



I dug out the trusty Esab from its junk shop that is my garage and made some pigeon shit. No explosion was made.


The dumping lever had come apart from its mechanism, so while the welder was out, it got a few blobs too.

Just in case I haven't got enough to do, my daily driver and only properly functioning car, the omega, decided to shit one of its rocker cover gaskets at the weekend and is spewing oil all over the place, including the exhaust. It looks like the car is on fire whenever I stop.

The transit tipper goes in for its mot tomorrow. I wonder what work that will create for me? Do these machines not realise I actually have a full time job?

Would it be "simpler" just to pull the engine and box as one from the olds? Does the front panel remove so you can pull it out forwards rather than at a silly angle?

That has been considered and was rejected, but who knows what will happen next. One more session at trying to remove stuff first. I dont think the front panel comes off, I'll check when I get home.
